This picture depicts the scene near a cafe. As you can see, there are four policemen leading four police dogs around a cafe . They are wearing their police outfit which looks very uncomfortable to wear in. I admire them for their sustainability.
It looks as it is a very hot and sunny day. They look as if they are investigating that area or looking for anyone who has drugs on them. They look very determined and serious in what they are doing.
I think that the policemen are dressed like that to assure the people that they are doing a serious job. The dogs look well-trained and not distracted except the last dog on the right hand corner of the picture.. There are more policemen in the airports nowadays, searching for illegal things in either people's luggages or bags or even themselves.

Home of rubbish?

I recently read there was this malay women who collects rubbish and her house is full of rubbish. Her whole house is literally full of rubbish- her living room, bedroom, kitchen etc. is totally full of it.
Thus, there was no where else to sleep but on the floor near the staircase.

I really pity this lady because she is so poor that she has to collect rubbish and keeps her rubbish at home for her own usage. Plus she could fall ill with all the germs and dirt in the house.

From this article, I think that people might criticise and look down on her and I think instead of criticising her, she should all do something to make a difference.

This article really made me realise how lucky we are to be able to live in a clean home.

I hope that people will learn from this article and not take advantage of what they have.

Reflection

Hello! Today I will be writing about what I have learnt in school for this term. As what Confucius had said, "By three methods may we learn wisdom: first, by reflection......" Thus, we will follow the format of a 3-2-1 reflection.

First of all, I learnt how to work under stress. We have much more homework, projects and tests in Secondary than in Primary school. There may also be many tests and projects in a week. Thus it is very important to be calm and collected when in these situations. If we are stressed out and cannot concentrate on what we are doing, we cannot study properly and then we will just fail everything. However if we are calm and collected, we can concentate properly and thus, do well.
I also learnt to be independent in whatever I do. We cannot depend on other people. Thus if something goes wrong, we know what we did wrong and not blame anyone else but ourselves. By being independent, we also learn to be more responsible for our actions.
I also learn how to cook proper dishes and know how to use the rice cooker, electric cake mixer etc. Thus, if my mother cannot cook, I can depend on myself.

I would like to improve on my other subjects like chinese and geography because I would like to be in Express next year. I would also like to improve on how to write proper essays and compositions.

I would like to learn how to draw properly and use different technics on how to make my drawings nicer.

What does it mean to me to live in Singapore?

I think that I am very lucky to be able to live in Singapore because Singapore is a multi racial country and it is very clean and green. Having Singapore be a multi racial country, we can all live in harmony without being racis nor getting into fights. We can be friends with anyone and everyone. We will not be punished or scolded just because a chinese girl is friends with a malay girl. And I believe that it is very important for a country to live in harmony because if people always fought, the country would be 'destroyed'. In such a way that there would be wars and people would die and everyone would be unhappy.

Although I have been to other countries, I always feel a need to get home after a week or two, because I would miss home, the different types of food and cleaness of Singapore. In all the different countries I have been to, Singapore is always the cleanest.

Favourite myths

My two favourite myths were The red dragon and The boy who loved bears. I liked the myth, The boy who loved bears because it tells us how close we can be to animals if we just try. Imagine two big, brown and fierce bears carrying you to their home to help you. There is also a connection between the bear and the man. I especially liked the part when the man died and at the same time a bear died (not that i like them to be dead). I just find it very interesting and touching for a bear and a man to be 'brothers'. I also liked the myth, The red dragon because it tells us how the animals became themselves. I always liked stories that tells me how animals came to be. I find it very interesting like the snake's legs fell off and it slithered away in the grass. However, I like The boy who loved bears because i find it very touching and is an inspiration to everyone.

Why do we need philosophy and religion today?

Yes, why do we need philosophy and religion today though they seem to cause more division and problems?
I think we all need philosophy and religion because we need something to believe in. We want to believe that we all have hope for something and will guide us through our life. God or no god, we have to live by our rules of religion or philosophy. It will ensure us that we live by a rule that we will follow. I think that if we all had no religion nor philosophy, we would all be lost in our faith. And though it creates division and problems, it just goes to show that people are standing up for what they strongly believe in.

Food and culture

Hello! Its me again! Today I would be talking about my all time favourite food, which is The Katong Laksa! It is a Peranakan (Straits-born chinese) dish. Although it is quite spicy, together with the coconuty taste and the ingredients, it tastes like heaven. And even though the gravy is quite thick because of the coconut, it tastes great. With the noodles soaking into the thick gravy, you will think that nothing could ever taste better.

Now, I will also be talking about my second favourite food which is BBQ chicken. Once you get it off the grill and put it into your mouth with its delicious taste, you will never be able to stop eating it. It comes to perfection once its spritz from calamansi limes which adds a sweet flavour to the wings.

Life during the Japanese occupation

During the Japanese occupation, some people were placed in prison where people could not complain and were treated the same regardless of their race of religion. Everyone showered together daily and were given limited time. This taught them to be fast.People also died because of sickness. The Japanese had no respect for women. Schools were opened and everyone had to sing the national anthem everyday. Everyone had to bow northwest to pay respects to the emperor and had to celebrate the emperor's birthday. Japanese concerts were introduced to them. Eveyone had to bow to the Japanese soildes whenever they saw them.

Am i happy with who am i? Why?

Oh thats an easy question. I love to be me. Because the thing that I am most proud of is my family. You would consider 10 people is a big family, however I have about 60 family members. You see, my dad has 10 brothers and sisters. He is the youngest of the brothers.

The thing with having a big family is that you know a lot of people will support you no matter what. Sure some cousins may be closer to one another but so what. As long as we know that if someone in the family is troubled, we will try our best to help them. And the best thing about my family, is that during Christmas, they will all come to my house and play games, eat and talk, But I love it when they give out presents. Because everyone will come together and shout for each other's names.

But my best friend is my twin sister (But she does not look like me. So, you would not believe that we are even sisters!) Although I am not as smart as her, she does not act as if i'm stupid. But the person that inspires me most is my mother. You would think that just because she is a housewife, she has not much to do. But you are TOTALLY WRONG! Being a housewife is not an easy job. In fact, I think that it is one of the most busiest jobs.

And that is why I love being me.

Anne Frank

Hello! Today's writing will be on me reflecting on Anne Frank, Bruno (the main character from the book and movie, The Boy In Striped Pajamas) and the war caused by Hitler.

I just cannot imagine that more than 2 million people were killed just because they were Jewish. And we have one man to blame, Adolf Hitler. The Jews were extremely hated by him. But i strongly do not think that it is right to kill people just because of their race.

Anne Frank was a Jewish girl that lived in Amsterdam. And the sad thing was that Hitler was alive then and he hated the Jews. Thus, Anne Frank and her family went into hiding. Anne Frank wrote in her diary ( which was given to her on her 13th birthday) everyday. She wrote about her thoughts and the things she did. But sadly in the end the Germans found she and her family.

Bruno is a fictional character but in the book it tells us what Hitler did and what his soilders had to do. Now that is real. Hitler thought that he was making the world a better place by killing thousands of Jews. But obviously it was so wrong. Now, Bruno's father was a very important soilder and had to be moved into the countryside near the camp. Bruno had no idea what was going on. He did not know what his father was doing until he met Shumel, a Jewish boy while he was out exploring. The story goes on how their friendship progress and what they did.

Indonesian Police

Hi! Today's topic will be on Indonesia Police. The police have killed two Islamist militants and arrested six.

One of the masterminds of the 2002 Bali bombings, Dulmatin, was shot dead near Jakarta.

I think that the Indonesian goverment is doing the right thing by protecting its country's people. I mean what is a country without its people?

Singapore is very lucky to have tight security system. I think the chances of people bombing Singapore is 90% out of 100%.

News On China

Hello, its me again! Ok....now, im writing about news on CHINA.
China says that they did not hog the Mekong River water.

They said that the changes in the Mekong River water has nothing to do with their activities. Now, you may be wondering what are the changes? So this is the reason, there have been unusual flooding along the Mekong two years ago.

China's dams have been blamed for this year's severe drought, which has hit fishermen, farmers and tourism operators in lower Mekong countries, including Thailand.

News On Obama

Hello! Today's writing is on Obama's trip to his homeland (Indonesia).I think that Obama is doing a very good thing, visiting his homeland. Because i think that once you are famous, liking being a singer or actor or actress, you should repay your own country. For example, if your country is not so rich, you can give a big donation or set up a school or a nursing home.

Like what Obama is doing, he is going back to Indonesia to attend a democracy promotion conference and highlight counter-terrorism measures.

Over all, i think that Obama is a well respected man.

My most memorable experience

Hello again! Well, lets see, my most memorable experience would be when i went to Perth. Perth is awesome! The weather is absoulutely wonderful, it can be sunny and yet cooling at the same time! We went there when i was primary 4. We went to different parts of perth. We stayed at a farm, chalet and a hotel. At the farm, we milked cows, rode horses, fed kangaroos and sheeps (one of the sheeps has the same name as me! And she gave birth 3 months after we left)

We also went to caves! it was so cool. And we climbed rocks like 6-7 storeys high! i love perth. We also went to a zoo! I saw lots of animals but my favourite part was that my sister and i rode a camel! actually, its not that bumpy. We also went shopping! Only on the last day did we do all our shopping. Haha.

All about me!

Hello! My name is samantha. I have a 3 year old corgi ( a breed of a dog) and she is sable ( light brown) and white. I got her when i was 6 years old. I also have terrapin called Lila, I was 7 years old . My mother's friend gave Lila to me as my birthday present, knowing that i LOVE animals. I use to have a dwaf hamster called Bubbles, I was only 7 years old then.

I also enjoy roller blading, watching television, going to the park with my family and my dog, listening to music, hose back riding and so much more. I would love to go hiking, scuba diving and to travel all around the WORLD!
